I read this post when it came out, and many things in it struck a chord. I came back a couple of times to read the quotes from 'The Lonely City', and finally decided to just get the book. I only started it recently, and was surprised (but not really, I guess) to find the 2nd chapter was about Edward Hopper (I had Nighthawks as a wallpaper for many years, and only recently was 'decoupaging' it on a couple of coasters I was making). None of this is particularly relevant, tbh.
What is, is that it looks like it is a book that my future self will thank me for reading. Even if I don't read another page (because life gets in the way, etc., etc.,) I've already taken a fair amount from it. So, I came back to here to mark that this post set me on that journey.
